TOP SIG

The Technical/Operational Procedures Special Interest Group (TOPSIG) aims to promote and study technical procedures utilised in the operational use of remote sensing.

This includes, but is not limited to, hardware, networking, storage facilities, workflows and dissemination methods. The other RSPSoc SIGs have approached remote sensing from various thematic viewpoints whilst this SIG will look at the rapidly changing nature of methods of data dissemination, data storage, backup and the operational nature of the modern RS sector making it a unique form of SIG.

TOPSIG aims to:

  • Organise meetings, preferably in conjunction with other specialist groups and those organisations holding similar aims to the group;
  • encourage research, development and training by providing a forum for the presentation of ideas; providing a focus of informed views sought by others;
  • and encourage the joint activities of industry, government and universities and multi-disciplinary research.

Membership of the SIG is open to all members of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society. Membership can also be requested from those outside of RSPSoc with a special interest in the technical and operational aspects of remote sensing although membership of RSPSoc is strongly encouraged.

The SIG is managed through a Yahoo Group: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/topsig/
