Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) is committed to fostering a professional, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, volunteers, partners, event participants, and guests. This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for behaviour and procedures for addressing concerns. 

Scope

This Code applies to: 

  • All RSPSoc members and officers 
  • Participants in RSPSoc events, conferences, workshops, and online spaces 
  • Individuals representing RSPSoc in any capacity 

Our Commitment

RSPSoc is dedicated to: 

  • Promoting integrity, professionalism, and scientific excellence 
  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming community 
  • Supporting equitable access and participation in remote sensing and photogrammetry 

Expected Behaviour

All individuals engaging with RSPSoc are expected to: 

  • Be respectful and considerate in all interactions 
  • Communicate professionally, avoiding disruptive or aggressive behaviour 
  • Promote inclusivity by fostering an environment free from discrimination 
  • Respect diverse viewpoints, expertise levels, and backgrounds 
  • Follow all RSPSoc policies, event-specific rules, and applicable laws 
  • Acknowledge contributions appropriately and avoid plagiarism 

Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours are not tolerated: 

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind 
  • Offensive or derogatory comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, or any protected characteristic 
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention 
  • Abusive, demeaning, or threatening behaviour 
  • Deliberate disruption of presentations, discussions, or society activities 
  • Misuse of RSPSoc resources or representation of the Society without authorisation 
  • Scientific misconduct, including falsification of data or inappropriate authorship practices 

Reporting Concerns

If you experience or observe behaviour that violates this Code, you are encouraged to report it as soon as possible. You may: 

  • Contact RSPSoc leadership or the designated safeguarding officer 
  • Report concerns confidentially via official RSPSoc channels 
  • Seek assistance from event organisers during RSPSoc functions 
  • All reports will be taken seriously and handled promptly, fairly, and confidentially. 

Consequences of Misconduct

Individuals who violate this Code of Conduct may face actions including, but not limited to: 

  • Verbal or written warning 
  • Removal from an event without refund 
  • Suspension or revocation of RSPSoc membership 
  • Restrictions on future participation 
  • Referral to appropriate authorities when necessary 

Responsibility of Leadership

RSPSoc leaders, officers, and event organisers have an enhanced responsibility to: 

  • Uphold and enforce this Code 
  • Address misconduct swiftly and fairly 
  • Model exemplary behaviour consistent with RSPSoc values 
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement

RSPSoc will periodically review this Code to ensure it reflects best practice, community expectations, and legal requirements.
