The Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) is a UK registered charity and professional membership body committed to conducting all of its activities ethically, responsibly, and with respect for human rights. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking and are committed to acting with integrity in all our relationships and operations.

Modern slavery, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking, is a serious abuse of human rights. RSPSoc is committed to ensuring that these practices have no place within our organisation or, so far as reasonably practicable, within our supply chains.

Our Organisation

RSPSoc is a registered charity that advances the science and application of remote sensing and photogrammetry for the benefit of society. We support our members through the promotion of education, research, professional development, publications, conferences, awards, and knowledge exchange.

Our operations are primarily office-based and administrative, supported by a small workforce, trustees, volunteers, and specialist contractors where appropriate.

Our supply chains are relatively simple and are considered to present a low risk of modern slavery. They include:

• Professional and consultancy services.
• Information technology, software, and digital services.
• Publishing, printing, and communications.
• Conference, event, and venue services.
• Office equipment and supplies.
• Financial, legal, and other business support services.

Our Commitment

As a charity, RSPSoc recognises its responsibility to operate in a manner that reflects its values of integrity, professionalism, and social responsibility. We are committed to taking proportionate steps to minimise the risk of modern slavery within our activities by:

• Conducting business honestly and ethically.
• Working with reputable suppliers and service providers.
• Considering modern slavery risks when engaging significant suppliers.
• Expecting suppliers to comply with applicable employment, labour, and human rights legislation.
• Taking appropriate action if concerns about modern slavery are identified.

Policies and Governance

RSPSoc expects its trustees, employees, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers to uphold high standards of ethical conduct.

Our governance arrangements and organisational policies support this commitment, including policies relating to:

• Ethical governance.
• Equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Whistleblowing.
• Financial management and procurement.
• Safeguarding, where applicable.

Concerns regarding unethical practices or potential modern slavery can be raised through appropriate reporting channels and will be treated seriously and investigated appropriately.

Due Diligence

Given the nature and scale of our activities, our due diligence measures are proportionate to the risks we face. These include:

• Procuring goods and services from reputable organisations.
• Considering ethical practices when selecting key suppliers.
• Reviewing supplier relationships where concerns are identified.
• Seeking assurances from suppliers where appropriate.

Training and Awareness

RSPSoc is committed to maintaining awareness of modern slavery and human rights issues. Staff and trustees involved in procurement, governance, or supplier management will be provided with appropriate guidance to help recognise and respond to potential risks.

Review

This statement will be reviewed annually by the Board of Trustees to ensure that it continues to reflect the Society’s activities and commitment to ethical practice.
